Sue Wong Fall 2005

Sue Wong Fall 2005

Sue Wong returns to the runway with Venetian Carnevale, perhaps her most flamboyant presentation to date! Wong has a love of theatre and a flair for the dramatic which gloriously shows itself in her runway presentations. Her shows are more theatrical display than a traditional runway experience. Wong could easily have another successful career directing on Broadway or at the Metropolitan Opera. Her runway shows are a delicious spectacle of lights, mood, colors, textures, fashion and most of all style. A true maven of style Wong creates the perfect backdrop for her drop-dead gorgeous fashion offerings.

For Fall 2005 she choose the theme of a Venetian Carnevale. Unveiling itself in feathers, incredibly luxurious Coque feathers found on the flounce of a gown, as its elongated train, or as decorative element disguised as rose petal in the hair. Look closely, every piece in feather has been crafted by hand as has every Venetian mask used to dramatize and evoke a mood on behalf of the collection. For what is the purpose of fashion if it no longer evokes emotion?

Wong continues to work with airbrushed and hand-painted silks in a
grouping themed Scheherazade inspired by the mythic Arabian heroine.
The colors of lavender, gold and chocolates are of earthen royalty. In
juxtaposition, is Million Dollar Baby, a group of French Deco inspired
looks some of which are decorated by paillettes, scalloped edges and
Victorian crochet trim.

Iberia, of Spanish influence, consists of gowns in colors of black and
Blood red as well as hand-painted prints, ric rac, fringe and ribbon
embroidery. The designs in Hollywood Babylon represent one of the designer's favorite eras where entrances were just as important as exits.

The exotic realm of Shangri La inspires beautiful piano shawl and Chinois embroidery, brocade patchwork and a custom Kabuki print silk satin fabric backed with a gold silk lame underlay.

Sue Wong ended her show in celebratory style of the bride with Bianca,
operatic eveningwear for the alternative bride.
