London Hilton on Park Lane - Review

London Hilton on Park Lane - Review

The London Hilton on Park Lane is a top hotel for the harried business traveler. One of the tallest buildings in London its 28 stories reign over Mayfair and offer fabulous views of Hyde Park and many of London's famous sights. It has an impressive 450 guest suites with 55 which have recently been beautifully refurbished.

As you walk in you are greeted by an impressive grand lobby whose feature wall is a curving bank of elevators. Off of the lobby are two exceptional restaurants, the bright Park Brasserie which has the feel of a country conservatory and offers Breakfast, Afternoon Tea and Mediterranean Menus for lunch and dinner, and The world famous Trader Vics. Trader Vics serves Island style cuisine in a Polynesian themed environment with Tiki carvings and masks adorning the walls. They use fresh ingredients form all over the world and cook in wood-fired ovens, for that authentic island luau flavor. The drinks from the bar pack an extra wallop so watch out for yourself because they'll sneak up on you. In addition to the two restaurants in the lobby, tucked away on the top floor of the hotel is Windows Restaurant. It has incredible views all over London and features food from award winning Chef Jacque Rolancy. Currently it is closed because they are in the middle of refurbishing but it will be reopening this May.

One of the luxury offers the Hilton has for its busy business travelers are their new state-of-the-art Executive Lounges. These offer dedicated work areas, well-appointed shower facilities and Wi-Fi access free of charge. Featuring sweeping views over Park Lane and Hyde Park the lounge allows you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the sights of London as you unwind and indulge in the privacy of the Lounge. It also offers complimentary breakfast and refreshments throughout the day, free Wi-Fi access, internet access at dedicated terminals, smoking and non smoking areas and you can check in and out from the lounge so you can be incognito and not have to stand in line at the reception desk. There's always refreshments around they have; continental breakfast, tea/coffee and cookies in the early afternoon, afternoon tea, a light evening buffet and a cocktail hour in the evening. The Executive Lounge in itself makes staying at the Hilton very worthwhile.

The rooms at the Hilton Park Lane are fairly standard but quite adequate for the business traveler who is using their room to unwind from a harried work day, they can watch a little Telly which comes equipped with multiple news and several foreign language channels, this is great for the guest whose first language is not English. Check emails on the high speed internet access, plug in their appliances in either of the built in 110 or 220 volt sockets.

Then bath or shower in the spacious (for the UK) bathrooms and sink into relaxing beds with fabulous goose down/feather comforters and pillows. One of my favorite things at the Park Lane are the comforter and pillows which made me feel like I was floating on and inside a cloud.

As I said before they have newly refurbished suites for that traveler who may choose to do more work from their hotel room and want something larger than a standard room. These come beautifully furnished and have breathtaking views over Hyde Park, every suite has its own character and all the modern luxuries and comforts of an elegant home-away-from-home.

In addition to the executive lounge, the Hilton Park Lane offers many meeting and banquet rooms making it an ideal location for conferences and trainings. If you don't have a laptop and need access to email or the internet or need to fax or print something there is also a fully equipped business center.

If you've got a little time off to play while you are in London, you're within walking distance to Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Knightsbridge and of course tube stations. It is 15 minutes to the theatre district so you can catch a hot West End show or two. If you miss your gym at home they offer a fully equipped Living Well Health Club with all the latest work out equipment. Oh and there is also a spa onsite for those that want facial or body treatments but don't have the luxury of taking time to go into a Spa.

The Hilton is a world recognized brand where you know you will get a high standard of quality, service and an expected luxury wherever you travel. The Park Lane is no exception, delivering the business traveler this outstanding brand of Hilton comfort, service and best of all luxury making it one of London's Best.
